The benches are now gone, as are the cutting boards as of August 2019.
This post represents the only two shameless self-promotions I offer for sale.
BENCHES:
Hardly a pyramid scheme, but the stack made for the Kodak moment. These ‘keyhole’ designed, footstools/benches are the last small production run for this dude.
Several sport an antiqued duo-toned finish, which has become part of my Maritime MO. The others displayed here are monotoned. Only one-off commissions from here on. Locally cut & kiln dried 1.25″ eastern white poplar, with hard maple ¾” X 5” dowels.
These are a practical, sturdy addition to the front/back/side door, shower, bathroom or as a footstool in the kitchen and in time for any holiday season. Make up your celebration for a gift idea. They are finished in semi-gloss waterborne floor varnish, as the floor has more inherent resin content than the other version.
Sorry, no shipping. 16” long X 16.5” high X 10” wide. $160.00
CUTTING BOARDS:
These are made from hard maple grown directly on this land that I steward. Most are from edge grain wood, which is harder and more durable than face grain or through and through cutting. There’s more waste with edge grain, but, the result is a superior cutting board.
On cleaning and maintenance, I recommend not to place in a dishwasher, even though they are glued together with waterproof glue. Do not leave wooden cutting boards soaking in the sink. Keep the one chosen for vegetables and fruit separate from meat and fish, as well as other animal foodstuffs. If no oil is used in your diet as mine, there’s no need for soap and hot water, as all veg and fruit, including fatty avocados, are water soluble. Stand the board up on its edge/end for air drying on all surfaces. If you insist, it can be wiped down with a tea towel.
Use no oils of any kind to treat a wooden cutting board. The treatment is cosmetic at best and will inevitably taint your food at worst. All oils left exposed to air will eventually oxidize and become rancid. One to avoid most especially is mineral oil as it is a distilled petroleum byproduct and should be avoided near food.
Even if you only cut on one side, leaving the other untouched as a presentation surface, rinse that side too for an equal pull on the wood fibres to prevent warping and twisting. Sorry, no shipping. 14” X 14” X 1.25” thick $25.00

John!
My name is Morgon Nickerson. I am a drywall finisher from the south shore. I just wanted to say I’ve followed your work on here for awhile and for a young guy like myself, I can only hope to be half as good as you are someday.
Hope all is well.
