I participate in a creative writing evening, held each month at the studio of Heidi Kalyani in Wolfville, NS. The setting is spendidly known as Heart Wide Open. I make no claim to this particular scribble being imaginative. However, recent events that are unfolding at light speed over this past year as well as warnings from those who have devoted their lives to studying the effects of climate change over previous decades, have paused me in reflective silence, thence take up this quill. I linger here briefly, within a sphere of inspiration.

Awakening

I have questions, both internal & external, seemingly with no resolution. Each query could lead those rubbing the sleep from their eyes, off in other directions towards more distractions.

  • The 14thC Kashmiri poetess Lalla, wrote: “There are those sleeping who are awake. Others are sleeping who will never wake up.” Do you know anyone who exemplifies this latter condition?
  • Is it a factual assertion, oft stated, that upon awakening, we can never again return to sleep?
  • Is the implied prompt, that those humans sleeping, are in need of being roused from their stupor credible? Do we love them by ignoring this easy going, perhaps complacent, apathetic attitude?
  • Jon Kabat Zinn wrote an entire book called: Wherever You Go, There You Are. If we were to collectively “get it”, where would we go?
  • What would a human economy look like without consumption as it’s zenith?
  • If people change through experience, not evidence, is there some benefit to being stimulated in the direction of a differing behaviour pattern?
  • Who would initiate this stirring of the collective deep sleep-walk? What could be the moral imperatives?
  • What would revolution look like? What is anarchy? What could ‘without hierarchy’ appear as?
  • Can we transition peaceably, or will some areas bath themselves in bloody violence towards other human beings?
  • What are you willing to give up so others may have what you possess?
  • If you ever met a genuine bona fide 1%-er, would you have the courage to ask: “How did you get all that money, all that power? How can I take that away from you to share socially amongst all others?
  • How long will we, the 99%-ers tolerate as a collective, the continual privatization of public services our parents and grandparents fought and died for?
  • Why have we allowed the capital of government to become the government of capital?
  • Is it true as Lao Tzu has posited, that if we don’t change direction, we may end up where we’re heading?
  • With the foreboding collapse of so many biosystems, has the entire E~air~th become ground zero?
  • In the wake of the #metoo hashtag, will men everywhere or for that matter anywhere, ever awaken to the reality that women are subject, not object?
  • If our capitalist economic system has monetized nearly everything, can humans thrive or even survive in this kind of dystopian future?
  • Can humans globally develop a new system of goods and services exchange, that replaces the current gangster, casino capitalism?
  • Are the people who act as though they’re ok and screw everyone else, awake or slumbering?
  • Are those who continually mouth the phrase: “Not in my lifetime”, awake or asleep?
  • IF, it’s accurate, that the thousands of ancient megalithic stone pyramids, which occur all over the globe, the impossible to construct stone walls, that credit cards cannot fit into the gaps of, enormous granite statues, as well as the continued annual paranormal phenomena of the crop circles, plus the ufo incidences, are telltale signs that we have been visited, are being currently watched and have been helped from epoch to era, what if these intelligences won’t help us this time?
  • Are we in a computer generated illusion as Elon Musk potentially theorized, or is life itself the grand illusion?
  • Just what is reality? Can we ever truly see, or are we perpetually condemned to just look? Are drug induced visions acceptable as an alternate realm of existence? Are they valid or delusional for those who have witnessed the encounter? How powerful is our mind?
  • Why is it that the very topics that we could raise as conversation are those remaining unexamined?
  • The term consciously aware, implies an awakening. If we reduce all that there is, to a material reality, how do we interpret that the world of divine nature resides in an otherworldly 3rd realm outside of mind and matter?
  • If we all wake up to these queries and begin to converse about this reality, leaving behind the cult of personality and celebrity, would that be enough to save ourselves, or, is this really an existential 6th mass extinction from which humanity is doomed?
  • In 2018, how do we interpret words such as warrior, hope, trust, courage, even belief?
  • Is any of this spiritual?

 

Is this a harbinger for the collective known as homo stupidio? Again, no credits for attribution, sigh.
