Since this property is for sale, I am downsizing many of the art and craft pieces created or collected over the course of my life, with a few family heirlooms that I have curated over the years. All prices are in CDN$  with packaging and shipping extra.

There are 12 items listed here, in no particular order; the final two are benches I have fabricated in the past 4 years.

Black Spruce-Hemlock wood sculpture

1. Spruce-Hemlock sculpture

Twisted, corkscrew, black spruce stump with enormous compression wood striations and a rat’s tail root to send it to Valhalla.

Old-growth quarter-sawn white hemlock stand and mounting slab.

*66″ tall

*35 lbs

One week’s work for a septuagenarian designer-maker.

The house is MLS listed. A true gift @ $99.

2. Bronze Age Cross

Bronze Age cross. This is a 42” wooden symbol.

The cross symbol held religious and cultural significance, often representing the sun and its perceived journey across the sky. It was also associated with burial rituals and possibly concepts of the cosmos and the divine. The Christian cross has so obviously been pirated from other traditions that came before.

Bronze is an amalgamation of brass and copper, which makes a harder and more resilient metal alloy, than either of its component metals. Neolithic, Bronze Age or Sun cross. Similarities here to the Nazi Swastika pilfered from very early Hindus.1050mm O.D.

The icon swivels on an 11/16” steel rod inside a 3/4” plastic conduit dug into the ground. This way the wind will swing it ’round. $59.

3. Inca-Southern-Andean-Chakana Cross

2” thick wooden, also known by 4 names.

This Southern Cross icon, crafted from NS White ash and BC fir, complements this gigantic Chakana, also known as the Andean Cross. Chakana in Spanish means ‘to cross’ or ‘to bridge’.

The 8 points symbolize the Southern Cross constellation. The central circle is how the mystical shaman leaves and re-enters this, our physical reality, from the aether. I saw many with multiple colours, which, may indicate the Peruvian and Chilean cultures, having a great deal to do with the long-time psychedelic culture of the indigenous peoples.

1400mm X 1400mm. (55” X 55” ) The icon swivels on an 11/16” steel rod inside a 3/4” plastic conduit dug into the ground. This way the wind will swing it ’round. $89.

4. Knight’s Templar Symbol

2” thick, wooden Knights Templar 5′ OD red cross button.

I couldn’t bring myself to make this piece smaller, since all the attic dried quarter-sawn, NS hemlock was 1500 mm long. The red signifies the blood spilled in martyrdom, plus the courage of those fighting in the first mercenary army for the Roman popes of the day.

The surrounding white is for the purity of the faithful intent.

5. 9-sea urchin shells

*Not supplied.*

Good for making hanging ornaments, especially if you are a woodturner. $39.

6. Chinese snuff bottle (painted traditionally inside)

Purchased in Beijing in 2012.

I’ve no idea how old this is.

The coloured painting is done on the inside of the bottle.

It comes complete with a locking showcase, authentication papers and my handshake and smile. $89.

7. Cloisonne napkin holders (1725-1850)

These are antique napkin holders from my great-great-grandmother’s collection.

They are a mixture of ceramic inlay, brass and solid brass, plus lacquer.

The price includes 4 cotton napkins and a cut glass plate for display. $165.

8. Guandi, the Chinese God of War

This is designed as a wall hanging. It is carved pine (maybe) purchased in a Beijing art market in 2012, during my travel to China.

It is in pristine condition!

Measuring 19″ tall X 10″ wide X 4″ deep.

It was new when I purchased it; the most expensive art by far, of all the items I bought.

It was likely created in the last 25 years, as I purchased it directly from the seller. $399.

9. Mountain Lion painting by Norman Green

This is an acrylic painting by Norman Green from 1994.

I’ve owned it since new. It was my cabinetry skills that crafted the unusual frame from 14 pieces of wood in a three-dimensional style, all subtly hand-carved, with no varnish or oil used, as my sense was to let the lion shine in her own reflection pool.

My formal career dates back to 1970. The frame is black walnut with corner embellishments of solid Ceylon ebony. The frame is 36″ wide X 48″ tall X 3-1/4″ deep.

The light above is on a roll switch.

It’s a one-of-a-kind frame and reflection picture.

The picture & frame also includes the unique light along the top for individual viewing.  $249.

10. Haida Button Blanket wall hanging

Authentic Haida button blanket wall hanging, by A. Odjig.

Measuring 46″ wide x 48″ long. The tassels at the bottom are 10″ long.

Overall, it measures 69″ on my wall, or less if you shorten the cord.

*It’s in pristine condition.

It is 100% wool at 3/4″ thick. The back is lined with a beige cotton.

I purchased it as new from an Indigenous band’s store in Brighton, ON.

That was 30 years ago in BC. $899.

11. Curly Birch Bench

Made with NS curly yellow birch lumber.

Abalone shell inlay

This bench/footstool/stool is made with a theme from the Japanese motif of the Samurai.

It has been made by me only, without help from others, automatic, CNC, or AI tools.

Far more time with hand operations has been expended, than on using the standard machine tools of a cabinetmaker.

While contemporary in styling, yet with ties to the traditions and techniques of the past, proven sound, employing multi-media aspects for your pleasure usefulness and discernment.

Weight is 22 lbs or 10 kg. It is already packaged in a double-walled cardboard box.

Width: 290 millimeters
Height: 460 millimeters
Depth: 530 millimeters

This bench, with a minor Zen-Samurai-styled theme, was fabricated in the winter of 2021. Made from Nova Scotian curly yellow birch, embellished with abalone shell inlays and edge chip carving. The finish is old-style shellac and paste wax, which is very easily repaired if scuffed. I am the sole furniture maker, having practised this craft for over 55 years. *There will be minor differences between the posted image and the bench, since when there were three, different ones were used for both the video and images. $975.

12. Curly cherry inlaid bench

A series of six inlaid benches, were fabricated during the winter of 2025 in high-figure curly black cherry, by me, that little ole cabinetmaker, Geppetto aka jayoh. Three remain. The theme is the Cosmos & the Dragonfly.

Three seat & lower leg wood trims were used: ebony, cherry and yellow birch.

All have abalone shell ‘brick’ inlay on the leg stretchers, as well 21 mm white Mother of Pearl or MOP inlay dots on the seat.

The cherry & birch trims employ gold tiger eye cabochons as the centre of their Cosmos.

The ebony-trimmed bench uses a red tiger eye; both colours are semi-precious stones.

As well, the curved and carved seat features; 21/12/6/3 & 1.5 mm gold MOP dots.

Gold MOP dots were also employed to embellish the cherry plugs, which conceal the large #12 x 2-1/2” fabrication wood screws.

The finish is a cabinetmaker’s favourite. Oil and paste wax, for easy maintenance. The wood was sanded to 320 grit, further refined with 1000 grit Scotch-Brite pads.

NB: Minor differences exist in actuality, since several were used for both the video and images.

Width: 255 millimeters
Height: 470 millimeters
Depth: 480 millimeters
If you see the Way broadly, you will see it in everything.
